How the Free Domain Rating Checker Works
Enter a domain such as example.com or paste a full URL. The tool removes the protocol, path, and common www prefix, validates that it is a public domain, and requests the current score from the official Ahrefs Domain Rating API.
The result is the website’s current Ahrefs Domain Rating, not an estimate created by SubmitMatic. Repeated checks may use a result cached for up to one hour to keep the tool fast and avoid duplicate API requests.
Use DR as a directional SEO benchmark. It compares backlink profile strength; it does not measure content quality, conversions, technical SEO, or every factor behind search visibility.
How to Interpret a Domain Rating Score
Domain Rating runs from 0 to 100 on a logarithmic scale. The distance between higher scores is progressively harder to close, so moving from DR 70 to 80 requires much more backlink strength than moving a new site from DR 0 to 10.
Compare your website with direct competitors in the same niche, then track your own score over time. A lower-DR specialist website can still outperform a higher-DR competitor with better content, stronger relevance, and more useful pages.
DR is not a Google metric or a direct ranking factor. Use it alongside referring domains, link relevance, organic traffic, rankings, and conversions.
